There is something particularly special about Connemara as summer begins to give way to autumn.

The days are still made for exploring, the landscape remains full of colour and there is a wonderful feeling of space across this wild corner of County Galway.

For anyone considering a final getaway before autumn properly arrives, September can be an excellent time to experience glamping in Connemara.

At Connemara Glamping, our season runs until 25 September, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy a late-summer escape surrounded by the scenery and culture of the west of Ireland.

A Different Side of Connemara

Connemara changes throughout the year, and September provides its own atmosphere.

Summer may be beginning to draw to a close, but there is still plenty of opportunity to explore the coastline, mountains, beaches, villages and countryside that make this area so memorable.

Our location in South Connemara places you directly on the Wild Atlantic Way, surrounded by traditional stone walls, patchwork fields and the distinctive landscape of the Gaeltacht.

It is the type of place where simply taking a walk along a quiet country lane can become part of the holiday.

Enjoy Days Out Across Connemara

One of the great advantages of staying in Connemara is the variety of experiences available within the wider region.

Guests can spend their days hiking, discovering beaches, exploring traditional towns and villages or visiting some of the area’s most recognisable attractions.

Our Things to Do guide includes ideas such as:

  • Connemara National Park and Diamond Hill
  • Kylemore Abbey
  • Roundstone and its beaches
  • Clifden and the Sky Road
  • Galway
  • The Aran Islands
  • Local pubs and cafés
  • Days exploring the coastline

You do not necessarily need a packed itinerary either. Part of the attraction of Connemara is being able to slow down and enjoy where you are.

Glamping Without Giving Up Your Comforts

September weather on Ireland’s west coast can vary, which makes comfortable accommodation particularly welcome.

Our large safari-style glamping tents combine the feeling of being close to nature with many of the features you would normally expect from conventional holiday accommodation.

Each tent sleeps up to six people across three bedrooms and includes comfortable beds, quality bedding, Wi-Fi, an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower and a kitchen area with hot water, fridge/freezer and induction hob.

Electric blankets provide an extra touch of comfort when the evenings become a little cooler.

Guests staying in An Cuach or An Spideog can even enjoy their own private wood-fired outdoor bath after a day exploring.

It is camping – but very definitely not as you know it.

Take a Walk to the Beach

One of the pleasures of staying with us is having a safe, sandy beach just a short walk away.

A late-summer walk beside the Atlantic can be the perfect way to start or finish the day.

From the local coastline, the landscape stretches across Galway Bay, providing the sort of views that make it easy to forget about everyday routines for a while.

You can find out more about the surroundings on our location page.

Experience Life in the Gaeltacht

A trip to Connemara is about more than simply seeing beautiful scenery.

Our glamping site is situated within an Irish-speaking Gaeltacht community, offering visitors the chance to experience an area where language, farming traditions and local culture remain an important part of everyday life.

Connemara Glamping itself has been developed on a family farm, with Michael’s family having farmed in the area for five generations.

You can learn more about Michael, Janet and the story behind the site on our About Us page.

It is this connection to the local area that helps make a stay here feel very different from a standard hotel or holiday park.

Make the Most of the Final Weeks of the Season

Our annual glamping season runs from 25 April until 25 September.

That makes September the final opportunity of the year to enjoy a stay before we close for the season.

Whether you want a few days filled with hiking and sightseeing or simply somewhere beautiful to slow down for a while, late summer in Connemara can provide a memorable setting.

Explore our glamping tents, browse our gallery and check availability through the Connemara Glamping website.

The west of Ireland is beautiful at any time of year, but there is something about those final days of summer that makes September particularly special.
